Kiss History
KISS FM LAUNCH SHOW- SEPTEMBER 1st 1990 03 October 2008
Let's go back, way back, back into time... Kiss FM was born in October 1985 as a pirate station, originally broadcasting across London on 94FM. It meant many things to many people, playing music across the London dance scenes; the rare groove warehouse posse, jazz peoples, the acid house faction and the reggae and alternative worlds. London clubbers, for the first time, heard the DJs on air that they went out and danced to week after week in clubs across the capital. As a pirate, Kiss attracted huge amounts of listeners and after one unsuccessful license application was denied, Kiss was finally give a legitimate license in 1990.
On September 1st, 1990 Kiss re-launched as a legal station, its studio and offices located on the Holloway Road. And here is the recording of the first ever show, chaired by station founder Gordon Mac. Enjoy.
