URBAN MUSIC AWARDS 20 September 2010
After an abundance of awards in 2009 (four Sonys, two UMAs and a Cool Brand recognition), 2010 has seen Kiss continue to add to an ever growing list of accolades. This year we've been honoured with Regional Radio Station of the Year at the Music Week Awards, the best in the entertainment category for TOTALKISS.com at the new media age Effectiveness Awards and we also picked up a couple of Sonys including a prestigious Gold for Station of the Year.
This weekend saw another couple of additions to our already heaving awards cupboard. The Urban Music Awards honoured Kiss' DJs yet again, this time presenting Shortee Blitz and DJ Swerve with a UMA.
Shortee saw off tough competition from fellow Kiss DJs Swerve and Manny Norte, 1Xtra's Semtex and MistaJam as well as Masterstepz from Choice, walking away with the glorious title, Best DJ of 2010.
DJ Swerve also walked away clutching a UMA and for the second year running after picking up Best DJ in 2009. This year DJ Swerve beat fellow Kiss DJs Rickie & Melvin, 1Xtra's Twin B and Max, Radio 1's Fabio & Grooverider and Jenny Francis from Choice to win Best Radio Show.
The event, which took place on Saturday, was hosted by Ricky Whittle from Channel 4’s Hollyoaks and kicked off with an amazing performance by Egypt who were backed by 20 finalists from Britain’s Next Top Model, walking the runway in true style.
