Michael Jackson's death on Thursday had a huge effect on the nation. Many people working at Kiss were hard hit as were a huge amount of our listeners. Kiss united in its grief making sure everyone could have their say. With the opportunity to talk across so many platforms the Kiss listeners came out in force and made their respect to the King of Pop known.
If you were on Facebook, Twitter or Bebo you would have seen the public unity and emotional reaction. Even just a short trip out the house would have made you aware of the outpour from all kinds of people as Michael Jackson's death became the conversational topic of choice.
As a station that plays more Michael Jackson than most our listeners were incredibly responsive through Kiss. Tons of texts and tributes flooded into our specially created Michael Jackson Tribute page on totalkiss.com.
Here at Kiss Confidential we have put all the Kiss responses in our word clouds (a visual representation of words from Wordle) to bring to life the overwhelming response. These word clouds, along with a few tweets we found, really contextualise the reaction from our listeners. The Kiss audience wanted, not only to tell to us how they felt about the news, but also how they felt about our tributes to him.
